Itching/ Pruritis.

According to the Medical Dictionary Itching is skin tingling or irritation that makes you want to scratch the itchy area. It's a symptom of many health conditions. Some of the common causes are :- • Allergic reactions • Eczema • Dry skin • Insect bites and stings • Irritating chemicals • Parasites such as pinworms, scabies and head lice. • Pregnancy • Rashes • Reactions to medicines To soothe itchy skin, you can try cold compresses, lotions and lukewarm baths. Avoid scratching, wearing irritating fabrics and high heat and humidity. Most itching is not serious. However, if you itch all over, have hives that keep coming back or have itching without an apparent cause, you might require medical attention. According to the definition in Wikipedia Itch (Latin: pruritus) is an unpleasant sensation that evokes the desire or reflex to scratch. Itch has resisted many attempts to classify it as any one type of sensory experience. Modern science has shown that itch has many similarities to pain, and while both are unpleasant sensory experiences, their behavioral response patterns are different. Pain creates a reflex withdrawal while itch leads to a scratch reflex. Unmyelinated nerve fibers for itch and pain both originate in the skin; however, information for them is conveyed centrally in two distinct systems that both use the same peripheral nerve bundle and spinothalamic tract. This can be a symptoms of a number of disorders. Heat and anxiety aggravate itching. So both should be avoided. The suffered should try not to scratch the area affected by purities. Scratching may give temporary relief but can cause worse problems like scores which may suppurate. An application of calamine location can give temporary relief. At the anus, Calendula mother tincture gives relief on application. Personal hygienic goes a long way in reducing itching. DULCAMARA 200: • Nettle rash. • Crustily eruptions on head. • Ring-worm of scalp. • Pruritis always worse in wet cold weather. HEPAR SULPH 200: • Chronic urticaria. Recurring urticaria. Swelling and itching. HYDROCOTYLE 30: • Intolerable itching; of soles, in particular. MAGNESIA SULPH 30 (MOTHER TINCTURE FOR LOCAL APPLICATION IN ERYSIPELAS): • Suppressed itch.
